10/20 He Will Do It Again
When God Does It Again: Holding On to Hope When the World Feels Hopeless
There are moments in life when the weight of everything pressing down on you makes it hard to breathe. The phone call you did not want to receive. The diagnosis that changed everything. The relationship that fell apart. The job that disappeared. The dream that seems buried beyond recovery. In those moments, the enemy of your soul leans in close and whispers the most dangerous lie he knows: that God is finished with you.
He is not.
That is not a motivational phrase or a bumper sticker sentiment. It is a truth anchored in the unchanging character of a God who has never once stopped working, never once lost control, and never once abandoned a single person who belongs to Him.
The Prophet Who Refused to Quit
In the book of Micah, a prophet speaks into one of the darkest seasons a nation had ever faced. Political corruption was rampant. The powerful were crushing the poor. The very people who were supposed to speak truth were instead selling it to the highest bidder. Moral decay had seeped into every corner of society, and judgment was coming. Things were, by every visible measure, falling apart.
And yet Micah refused to surrender his hope.
In Micah 7:7, he makes a declaration that reads almost like a personal vow. He essentially says he is not giving up. He is waiting to see what God will do. He is counting on God to listen. In the middle of national collapse, surrounded by people who had every reason to despair, Micah plants his feet and says: I know my God, and I know He is not done.
That kind of faith is not naive. It is not the faith of someone who has never suffered. It is the faith of someone who has watched God move before and refuses to believe that the story ends here.
You Are Not Just a Speck
It is easy to feel small in a world of over eight billion people. Problems have a way of shrinking your sense of significance. When the storm is loud enough, it can drown out every reminder of who you are and who is standing with you.
But here is the truth that changes everything: when you belong to God, you are not navigating life as one small person against an overwhelming world. You are a child of the living God, and everything that He is stands with you. The creator of heaven and earth, the one who spoke existence into being out of nothing, is personally invested in your life, your struggle, and your outcome.
In John 10:28-30, Jesus makes a declaration that should settle every anxious thought. He says that no one can steal His sheep out of His hand. He describes His Father as so much greater than the destroyer and the thief that there is simply no comparison. Not a little greater. Not slightly more powerful. So much greater that the contest is not even close.
That is who is on your side.
The Letter Micah Wrote to His Enemy
Later in Micah 7, the prophet does something remarkable. He speaks directly to the enemy who has been taunting him. He acknowledges the darkness he is sitting in. He admits that things are hard and that he is in a difficult place. But then he says something defiant and full of fire.
He says: do not celebrate yet. I am down, but I am not out. God is my light. He is going to get me out of this. And when He does, you are going to see it with your own eyes, and you are going to be disgraced.
That is not arrogance. That is covenant confidence. It is the voice of someone who remembers what God has already done and refuses to believe that the same God has suddenly gone silent or gone weak.
If you are in a dark place today, you have permission to write that same letter. You can look at every fear, every obstacle, every lie the enemy has been whispering, and say: I am down, but I am not out. My God is coming through again.
The God Who Cannot Evolve Because He Is Already Perfect
Here is a thought worth sitting with. The reason we talk about things evolving is because evolution implies improvement, moving from a lesser state to a greater one. But God has no lesser state. He is already perfect, already all-powerful, already completely faithful. There is nowhere higher for Him to go, which means His power has never diminished, His faithfulness has never weakened, and His ability to move in your life has never decreased.
If He healed before, He can heal again. If He restored before, He can restore again. If He opened doors before, He can open them again. If He made a way through the wilderness before, He can carve a path through your chaos right now.
Faith Is Not a Spectator Sport
Trusting God does not mean sitting still and waiting passively. In Matthew 7:7, Jesus uses three action words: ask, seek, and knock. Every one of them requires movement. Every one of them requires you to get up and engage. Faith always involves forward motion.
God is not calling you to be busy for the sake of being busy. He is calling you to be fruitful. And fruitfulness requires alignment, discipline, and the willingness to step through the door He has already opened. He makes the way, but you have to walk into it.
The waiting seasons are not wasted seasons. They are the seasons where God grows you the most, where He draws you closest, where He prepares you for what is coming next. Do not despise the wait. Use it to seek Him with everything you have.
The Same God, Again and Again
Whatever you are facing today, you are not facing it alone. The God who brought you through the last storm has not retired. The God who carried you when you had nothing left is not tired. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that means the same faithfulness that got you here is the same faithfulness that will carry you through what is ahead.
Do not give up. Do not let the enemy's taunting convince you that this is the end. Remember what God has already done, go all the way back to the cross if you have to, and let that memory fuel your confidence for today.
He did it before. He will do it again.
