What does it truly mean to be the church? Not just to attend, sing, and serve, but to understand the deep, driving purpose behind everything we do as followers of Jesus? In this powerful message rooted in Matthew 28:16-20, we are brought face to face with the Great Commission, the marching orders Jesus gave his disciples on a mountain in Galilee. Mountains throughout Scripture have always been places of divine encounter and command, from Mount Sinai where God thundered his law, to Mount Carmel where fire fell from heaven, to this moment in Galilee where the risen Christ stands and declares something that changes everything. He does not begin with a command. He begins with a credential: all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. This is not regional power or limited jurisdiction. This is cosmic, unlimited, unstoppable authority over every realm, seen and unseen. And it is from that authority that the word 'go' is released. When we understand that the commission to go is backed by the full weight of heaven, we begin to see why the church cannot be stopped, why our praise cannot be contained, and why no opposition, no matter how dark or intimidating, can ultimately prevail against the gospel moving through us.
